Our events raise money, promote awareness, and build a community of hope around CCBF’s life-saving mission.
Thanks to a generous donation of tickets from the New York Mets, our patients and families were able to enjoy a baseball game! The kids had a blast at what was the first game for some, and the families had a chance to relax and have fun. The Mets played the Arizona Diamondbacks and won 11-1.
The 2018 Breakthrough Ball was held at The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018. Swedish pop duo Icona Pop performed, as hundreds of New Yorkers came together to raise over $800,000 benefiting patients and families affected by childhood cancer and blood diseases. The Breakthrough Spirit Award was given to Pearl Koch, an 11-year-old survivor of Non-Hodgkins’ Lymphoma, and her family. Pearl’s physician, Dr. Lisa Roth, a Non-Hodgkins’ Lymphoma survivor herself, was also honored at the event.
The 2016 Breakthrough Ball was held Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at The Plaza Hotel and raised $1,799,053 for pediatric cancer and blood diseases. Pediatric cancer survivor Walker Lipton and his family were honored with the 2016 Spirit of Life Award, NBA broadcaster Craig Sager was honored with the 2016 Hero Award, and Dr. Mark Souweidane was honored with the 2016 Breakthrough Spirit Award. Patients, families, doctors, nurses, and prominent New Yorkers came together for a cause greater than themselves at this fantastic event.
The 2017 Breakthrough Ball was held at The Plaza Hotel on Monday, November 27th, 2017 and raised $1,160,381 to benefit patients and families at the Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Ron Iervolino, past chairman and long-time member of the board of directors, was honored with the Breakthrough Spirit Award. It was an immensely fun night in which hundreds of prominent New Yorkers came together to raise funds and awareness for CCBF’s cause.
